Obituary of Carcella Mae Floyd

Carcella Mae “Kit” Floyd, 87, of Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on December 21, 2013. Born in Hampton, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Ethel (nee Mercer) Tays. Carcella attended St. Mark’s Anglican Church and was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 20 Sussex. She is survived by her daughters: Eileen Hayward (Gordon) of Wards Creek, Gladys Tabor (Andy) of Hammondvale, Betty Stanwix (David) of Hillsdale, Dora O’Brien (Vince) of Lakeside, Diane Devine (Doug) of Jeffries Corner, Bernice Hanlin (Daryl) of Salt Springs, Marilyn Floyd (John Beach) of Hillsdale, and Patricia Devine (Rodney) of Jeffries Corner; her son, Gerald Floyd (Patricia) of Hammondvale; her sisters: Elsie Mercer of Kingston and Lillian Kilpatrick of Upham; 24 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; as well as by many extended family members and friends. Besides her parents, Carcella was predeceased by her husband, Percy Floyd; her sons: Murray and Darrell; her sisters: Mary Hardy and Irene Marks; and her brother, Vernon Tays. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Rd., Sussex (506-433-2133), from where visitation will be held on Thursday December 26, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, and the funeral service will be held on Friday December 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Allen Tapley presiding. Interment will be held in the Salt Springs Cemetery in the spring.
