Effie Jardine passed away on her 95th birthday, March 4, 2009, at the Sussex Kiwanis Nursing Home after several years of failing health. Wife of the late Andrew Gilles Jardine, and long-time resident of 68 Peter Street until her stroke in July 2006; she was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church, the Senior’s Club, and a life member of the Ward’s Creek Women’s Institute. Born in Poodiac, Kings Co., NB on March 4, 1914, a daughter of the late Walter and Alice (Brown) Parlee. Effie leaves to mourn: daughters, Shirley Seymour and husband Gordon of Sussex, Barbara McLellan and husband Borden of Hampton; son Andrew Terrance and wife Sandra (Jones) of Kitchener, ON; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and her sister Bertha (Walter) Jardine of Sussex, NB. She is also survived by sisters-in-law: Muriel (Austin) Conley, Saint John, NB; Anne (Arthur) Parlee, Lindsey, ON, Edith (William) McClintock, Ormstown, Que.; and brother-in-law, George Jardine and wife Bernice, Bathurst, NB. She was predeceased by brothers: Clarence, Harold, Fred, Roy, Arthur, Herbert, and Raymond; and her sister Vera Mullaly. Resting at Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday March 7, 2009. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday March 8, 2009 in Sussex Select Community Funeral Home with Jeanette Cosman officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in Kirk Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
