Obituary of Mary Fowler Teakles

Teakles, Mary Fowler (nee Drummond), 92, of Penobsquis, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on May 6, 2017. Born in Upperton, she was a daughter of the late Hanford and Ethel (nee Fowler) Drummond, and the wife of the late Burton Teakles.

Mary will be remembered for her love of family and her generosity. Her days were filled with pickling, gardening, and feeding a crowd. Most evenings she enjoyed knitting, quilting and the occasional game of cards.

Mary will be sadly missed by her children: Donald (Linda), Gerald (Joanne), John (Debbie), Allan (Denise), James (June) and Susan Floyd; and her sisters-in-law: Laura Drummond and Ella Brown; ; as well as by many extended family memberNanny will live on in the hearts of her 21 grandchildren; Joseph Teakles (Chantale Bellemare), Anthony Teakles, Andrew (Sarena) Teakles, Patricia (Paul) Walker, Michael Teakles (Melissa Aucoin), Mary (John) McNair, Judy (Garett) Freeze, Susan Teakles (Nicholas Morrell), Elizabeth (Andrew) Cummings, Monica (Geoff) Fraser, Thomas Teakles (Ashley Bennett), Margaret (Nigel) Kwan, James Teakles, Jocelyn Teakles (Burkhard Fahrenbach), Heather (Ian) MacKay, Scott Teakles (Sarah Davidson), Holly Teakles, Lindsay (Barry) Steeves, Melissa (Benjamin) Williams, Alissa (Pat) Landry and Adam Teakles (Amanda Hebert). Great Nanny will be lovingly remembered by her 33 great grandchildren; Noah, Vivianne, Nathan, Benjamin, Marc, David, Aaron, George, Isaac, Grace, Maya, Hannah, William, Emma, Addison, Rachel, Alex, Matthew, Ryan, Lora, Sam, Sara, Carter, Jacob, Lauren, Tyler, Brooklyn, Emily, Taylor, Landon, Parker, Emily and Justin.s and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her sisters: Maude Pomeroy and Helen Scott; and by her brothers: George, Howard, Gordon and Albert.

She was a member of the Penobsquis Baptist Church, and a past member of the Women’s Institute and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 20 Ladies Auxiliary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB (506-433-2133). The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 20 Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a tribute service on Tuesday May 9, 2017 at 3:45 pm, and visitation from 4-8 pm, all in the funeral home; her funeral service will be held at the Penobsquis Baptist Church on Wednesday May 10, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will be held in the Cardwell Cemetery.
