Obituary of Evelyn Caldwell

Evelyn Caldwell (nee Freeze) Passed away peacefully at the Beacon Heights Retirement Home, Ottawa, ON on February 2nd, 2014 in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of Ross for seventy years, Evelyn was born in Sussex, NB on April 17, 1921. Daughter of the late Samuel A. Freeze and Rosa Ann Parkes, she was predeceased by her brothers: Fred and Albert Freeze; and by her sisters: Viola Fillmore, and Lily Erb. Evelyn grew up in Sussex; before her marriage she found employment at Mount Allison University and Sussex stores. After their marriage, she and Ross lived in various locations across Canada while he was a member of the RCAF. They moved to Ottawa in 1969 and retired there. Evelyn is survived by her husband Ross; daughter Sandra Hebert (Rene) of Cornwall, ON; her son James A. Caldwell (Kathleen) of Elliot Lake, ON. She is also survived by special grandsons: Troy Nickerson of St. Catharines, ON, Trevor Nickerson (Cheryl) of Burritts Rapids, ON, and James E. Caldwell of Yellowknife, NWT. She will be fondly remembered by seven darling great-grandchildren: Megan, Lauren, Jacob, Melissa, Joshua, Bethany, and Matthias Nickerson; as well as by many nieces and nephews across Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place, and Evelyn’s remains will be interred in the Pioneer Cemetery in Penobsquis, NB. at a graveside service on Thursday July 3, 2014 at 6:30 pm.
