Obituary of Frank Leslie Gaunce

The family of Frank Leslie Gaunce announce his passing on Thursday December 12, 2013, in his 102nd year. Frank was born in Carsonville, NB on August 19, 1912. He was the son of the late Frederick and Sarah Natelia (Parlee) Gaunce. He was a member of the 8th Princess Louise’s New Brunswick Hussars and served overseas during World War II in Italy, France, and Holland. After the war he settled in Lower Millstream and trucked for many years. He continued his association with the 8th Hussars and was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Norton Branch # 76. He was a member of the United Church of Canada as well as the Millstream Seniors Group. In retirement years he was a member of the Twin Seas Caravan Club and enjoyed many group travels. His longevity allowed him to return not once but twice to the former battle zones of Europe on the 45th anniversary of Liberation of Holland in 1985 and again on the 60th anniversary in 2005 as well as the hills of Italy in 1989 and again in 2004. He is survived by his son Richard (Peggy) and their son Jeffery (Denise) and their children: Sophia and Maxwell; their daughter Joanne McDermott and her children: Mya and Skye; their son Andrew (Kelly) and their children: Kayley, Kandace and Andrew; and their daughter Vicky Gaunce. Frank is also survived by his son David (Lois) and their son Tim (Lynn) and their children: Taylor, Sydney, Brieann, and Regan; their daughter Cynthia (Ron) Johnston and their children: Lanysha, Hayden, Shantalle, and Damian; their son Kirk (Effie) and their children: Joey and Samuel; their son Nick, and their son Chuck (Tracy) and their children: Izabella, Blake and Paisley. Frank is also survived by his daughter Ann (Douglas) Taylor and their son Brian Taylor (Jennifer) and their daughter Pam Taylor (Mark), and Frank’s special friend Gladys Veysey. He is predeceased by his wife Izzetta (Hughes), son Jack, brothers: Ralph, Harold and sister, Mabel Hall. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, (506)433-2133 from where visitation will be held on Monday December 16 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Norton Branch # 76 tribute will be held on Monday, at 6:45 pm, the funeral service will be held at Sussex Select Community Funeral Home with Doug Cosman presiding on Tuesday December 17, at 11:00 am. The interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery. Donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Norton Branch #76 Poppy Fund or to a charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.
