Edith was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on March 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Leon Everett and Parvetta M. (Hillyard) Cogswell. Edith was blessed with three surviving children: Edward Steeves and his wife Pauline of Lockport, New York, Peggy Taylor and her husband Donald of Dobson Corner, Beth Gogan and her husband Gary of Steeves Settlement; five step children: Sherrill Carter and her husband Lawrence of Moncton, Hope Graham of Antigonish, NS, Rhoda Wilson and her husband Tim of Sussex, Rev. Hanford Branscombe and his wife Joan of Oshawa, On and Clinton Branscombe and his wife Jo-ette of Sussex, two brothers: Norman Cogswell of New Hampshire, USA, Howard Cogswell and his wife Joyce of Saint John; her daughter-in-law, Anita Sergeant and her husband Brian of Fredericton;
