Obituary of Muriel Moore
The death of Muriel Moore of Sussex occurred at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on July 15, 2004. Muriel was born in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, a daughter of the late Charles G. and Ethel “Susie” (Kirk) Reid and the wife of the late Reginald Moore who passed away in 1984. She is survived by her sons, Gordon Moore and his wife Linda and Michael Moore and his wife Georgina, both of Sussex, grandson Alec Moore at home and granddaughter Crista McNaulty (Sean) of Saint John, her sister Betty Annand of Halifax and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Muriel was predeceased by her daughter, Olga Moore, sister Joan Marvin and a brother Leighton Reid. Muriel joined the British Red Cross, which took her to Singapore via India. She returned to Canada in 1946 and married Reginald Moore in October of 1947. Muriel was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20. A past member and past Ladies President of the Sussex Golf and Curling Club and a past Ladies Club Champion. Muriel was a very active member of the U.C.W in earlier years. At the family's request there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held on Sunday July 18, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, conducted by Mrs. Jeanette Cosman, Staff Associate Minister. Interment will be at Kirk Hill Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Legion members are asked to attend the service.
