Obituary of Gordon T. Snyder

The death of Gordon Thomas Snyder of Sussex Corner occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on March 15, 2011 at the age of 92. Born in Jacquet River, NB, Gordon was the husband of the late Beatrice Snyder. He is survived by his daughter Bonnie (Bill) Crealock of McGregor Brook, his grandsons; Brent (Lori) Crealock and Randy (Janet) Crealock, his great grandchildren; Colin, Erin and Meghan, his sister Gertrude Laviolette of Nash Creek, his brother Lester Snyder of Rosemere, PQ and several nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his wife and brothers; Calvin, Robert, Marven and Douglas. Gordon proudly served with the 26th Canadian Overseas Battalion which along with 3 other battalions formed the Fifth Canadian Infantry Brigade. Starting at Dieppe moving to Normandy in time to serve with the British 2nd Army and along with the Canadian 1st Army helped with the liberation of Dieppe. As per Gordon’s wishes there will be no visitation held. The funeral service will be held on Friday March 18, 2011 at 2:00PM at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) with Reverend Dr. Leo Gallant of Sussex Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at the Creightonville Cemetery at a later date. Donations made to the Creightonville Cemetery or the Sussex Health Centre Palliative Care Fund would be appreciated.
