Obituary of Marion A. Keating
The death of Marion A. Keating of the Kiwanis Nursing Home and formerly a lifelong resident of North End Saint John, occurred on November 20, 2010 at the age of 98. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Blanche (Whelpley) Holder and was the wife of the late Fred C. Keating who passed away in 1992. Marion loved going to the camp in Holderville, playing cards, doing her knitting and watching her soaps. She always enjoyed being around people and boating on the river in years gone by. She is survived by her son Brian (Marilyn) Keating of Sussex, her grandchildren; Jeffrey Keating (Jesslyn MacKinnon), Thomas (Alicia) Keating, Matthew Keating (Becky Lee) and Daniel Keating and her first great granddaughter Teagan, who arrived 3 months ago. Marion was predeceased by her husband, son Douglas, daughter-in-law Margaret (Palmer) and sisters Margaret Whittaker and Doris McKenzie. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex on Wednesday from 6-8PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday November 25, 2010 at 11:00AM at Trinity Anglican Church, Sussex with Archdeacon David J. Barrett officiating. Interment will be in Long Reach United Church Cemetery. The family request donations made to the Trinity Anglican Church, the Kiwanis Nursing Home Palliative Care Room or the charity of the donor’s choice.
