Obituary of Bob Jones
It is with sadness, the family announces the death of Robert Sidney Jones , of Penobsquis, NB, age 86, husband of Phyllis (McPhee) Jones, which occurred on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the Sussex Health Centre.
He was born on December 5, 1930 in Springdale, NB, a son of the late Eldridge and Blanche (Clain) Jones. Bob worked over 54 years as a pressman with the King`s County Record and Royal Printing in Sussex. He was the founder of the Kennebec Four, a popular band that toured the dance halls of Southern New Brunswick primarily during the 50`s and 60`s . Sets of 8 followed them wherever they played. Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years Phyllis; sons: Brian (Cheryl) of Ottawa, ON, Jamie (Jackie) Jones of Sussex Corner, NB, Tim Jones of Coal Lake, AB, Michael (Laura) Jones of Salt Springs, NB; sisters Patricia (Curtis) Lackie of Newtown, NB, Linda (John) Dalling of Waterford, NB; brother Billy (Sharon) Doucette of Ottawa, ON; half-brother Charlie (Judy) Jones of Ontario; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer Jones; half-brother Ted Thaxter and infant sister Audrey Thaxter.
Sussex Select Community Funeral Home (506-433-2133) 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB, are entrusted with arrangements. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel. Private family interment will take place in South Branch Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Bob may be made to the War Amps or to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
