Christian, Edna May, 87, of Sussex and formerly of Jollimore, NS, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on January 16, 2013. Born in Jollimore, she was a daughter of the late Duncan and Millicent (nee Topple) McCarthy. Edna enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, knitting, playing solitaire, and listening to Danny O’Donnell sing. Edna is survived by her son, Gary Christian (Annabelle St. Laurent) of Moncton; her grandchildren: Laura Myers (Kevin) of Sydney, NS, Robbie Christian and Chris Christian, both of Dartmouth, NS; her sister, Evelyn Kearns of Jollimore; several nieces and nephews; as well as by her four-legged companions: Sinjun, Sammy, & Timmy, whom she adored. Besides her parents, Edna was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Christian; her sister, Marjorie Kirby; and by her brothers: Robert, William, and Neil. As per Edna’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held in St. John’s Cemetery in Halifax, NS at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sussex Select Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the S.P.C.A would be appreciated by the family.
