Hicks, Ronald Austin, 88, of Wards Creek, passed away on October 1, 2013 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Hicksville, NB, he was a son of the late Charles and Iva (nee Cochrane) Hicks. Ronald was employed for many years with the Department of Health. A self-taught carpenter, he spent his retirement years in the workshop. Ronald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene Hicks (nee Thorne); his 3 children: Susan Hicks-Canrinus (Albert) of Wards Creek, Dawn Hicks-Milley (Douglas) of Winnipeg, and Errol Hicks (Kim) of Woodstock; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as by many other extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his brothers: Wiley and Frank; and his sisters: Willa Friars and Ann Hicks. Visitation will be held on Friday October 4, 2013 from 1:30 pm … 2:30 pm; the funeral service will be held on Friday October 4, 2013 at 2:30 pm, all in the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex.
