The death of Loyd Kenneth Long of Collina, occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on November 9, 2009 at the age of 73. Born at Snider Mountain, he was a son of the late A. Roy and Vera (Simpson) Long. Loyd is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret (Johnston) Long and their children; Alice Long (Mike Walsh) of Saint John, Ken (Denise) Long of Drurys Cove Road, Marsha Long of Sussex, Rodney Long (Tiffany Martin) of Sussex and David Long (Jennifer Miller) of Sussex, grandchildren; Cecilia, Devon, Leighia, Latesha, Kristen and Eugene, sisters; Mabel Baxter of Collina, Viola (Aubrey) MacAllister of Minto, Edith (John) Attoe of Foxhill, Doris (Wayne) Nelson of Orono, ON, Glenna (Jim) Simpson of New Line, Joan (Alfred) Acott of Toledo, ON and Clara (Aubrey) MacLeod of Havelock, brothers; Donald of Marrtown and Ashley of Sussex Corner, sister-in-law Marvell Tribe of Sussex, brother-in-law Murray Steen of Snider Mountain, aunt Esther Long of Snider Mountain and several nieces and nephews. Loyd was predeceased by an infant daughter Theresa, sister Evelyn Steen and brother Hartley Long. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Wednesday from 3-8PM. A private funeral service and interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Sussex Health Centre or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
