Obituary of Myra Evangeline Dykeman
At the Kiwanis Nursing Home on April 20, 2004, Myra Evangeline (Westrup) Dykeman of Jemseg and Sussex, wife of the late Hinson Dykeman. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Hugh and Elizabeth (Read) Westrup. She was a teacher in various New Brunswick schools, a Past Chief of Prince Edward Temple #22 Pythian Sisters, the clerk of Jemseg Baptist Church for many years and was active in Seniors Groups in Jemseg and Sussex. Myra is survived by six children; Almeda McKnight (Arthur) of Sussex Corner, Lorna McLaughlin (Charles) of St. Albans Maine, Judith Carr (Edwin) of Sussex, Dianne Peters of Anthony, Florida, Brian Dykeman (Margaret) of Fredericton and Brenda Fanjoy (Philip) of Cambridge Narrows, fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, a sister Miriam Burnham (Carl) of Limington, Maine, a brother Bernard Westrup (Avis) of Myrtle Creek, Oregon and one cousin Nora Hargreaves of Saint John. In addition to her husband and parents, Myra was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Stewart and brother Gordon Westrup. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday April 23, 2004 at the Jemseg Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Reverend Ted Newell officiating. Interment will take place in the Jemseg Community Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations made to the Jemseg Baptist Church or the Kiwanis Nursing Home would be appreciated by the family.
