The death of Gerald Lawrence Patterson of Newtown occurred at his residence on June 1, 2007 at the age of 69. Born at Knightville, a son of the late Martin and Ada (Mallory) Patterson. He is survived by his wife Rita (Baskin) Patterson, daughters Lois (Ron) Phillips and Sherry (Malcolm) Magnan, sons Vance (Monica), David (David), and Scott Patterson, several grandchildren, sister Margaret (Bill) Komazic, brother Roy (Dale) Patterson, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter Rita Patterson, sisters Madeline and Viola and brothers Simon, George, and Allan. Gerald was self-employed in the scrap metal business, he ran the River Road Variety in Newtown and Patterson Cover-ups in Sussex, as well as a small hobby farm. He enjoyed playing several different games of cards and checkers. He loved the outdoors, whether he was fishing, hunting or just walking in the woods. Arrangements are in the care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road (506-433-2133). The funeral service will be held Monday June 4, 2007 at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel.
