Obituary of Katherine Ruth den Admirant
den Admirant, Katherine “Katie” Ruth (nee Kelly) passed away on Thursday October 8, 2015 at the age of 79 years. She was born on December 25, 1935 in Avoca, QC in the Laurentian Mountains. Her father and mother were Elmer and Ruth Kelly. She had 9 sisters and 6 brothers; starting at the oldest one, they were: Hilda, Dora, Ronnie, Tom, Percy (died in 1990), Jackie, Eunice, Guy, Gladys, Joe, Fay (died in 2014), Gay, Doris, Bertha, and Nancy; the youngest one is 60 years old and the oldest one is 87. Katie had 5 children: Peter, Ruth, Martin, Kelly, and David; she had 28 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Katie married Maarten den Admirant on September 3, 1955 in Avoca, QC. Katie was diagnosed with the early onset of dementia which was treated at home for the first few years. After that she lived at Roxanne’s Special Care home for one year, and got accepted at the Kiwanis Nursing Home in Sussex, NB in January 2014. Her dementia progressed rapidly, then at the end of September … early October she caught a severe case of pneumonia. She died peacefully after a brave fight surrounded by some of her family. She will be sadly missed. “Oh, dear Katie, you brought so much peace and pleasure to so many people all over this country; you were a very special lady”. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, from where visitation will be held on Tuesday October 13 from 12 … 2 pm, and a funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm commemorating Katie’s life.
