The death of Irvine John Carten of Urney occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on January 13, 2006 at the age of 90. Born in Cedar Camp, a son of the late Timothy and Maude (Gordon) Carten. Irvine is survived by his wife Ivy (Chambers) Carten, daughter Betty Floyd (Earle) of Apohaqui, sons Paul Carten of Urney, Peter (Lori) Carten of Urney and Stephen Carten of Sussex Corner, stepdaughter Frances Harding (Eldon) of Elkfort BC, several grandchildren, sisters Isabel Pothier (Ulysse) of Saint John and Elizabeth Connolly of England and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters; Annie Carten, Bertha McShane, Mary Carten and Grace Monahan, brothers Mike, Warren, Russell and Joe Carten. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Sunday January 15, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Wards Creek Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
