Walter was born to Martin and Mary (Hutchins) Beck in Brookvale, NB on January 2, 1930. Before his retirement he was employed with the Department of Natural Resources as a Game Warden in Coles Island for over 22 years He loved telling stories, the outdoors, taking things apart, rebuilding them, and working on cars. Throughout his life, Walter taught his children numerous lessons: things about the outdoors, the types of trees, to recognize the various animal tracks, how to read a compass (especially before going into the woods), the rules of hockey, the game of wrestling and much, much more.
