The death of George Wendell Scribner of South Branch, NB occurred on February 20, 2009 at the age of 87. Born at Rothesay, NB a son of the late Arnold R. and Emma (Carpenter) Scribner. George is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Jean (Brown) Scribner, his children; Wendell (Janet) Scribner of Saint John, James (Linda) Scribner of Belleisle Creek, Emma (Allan) Lizotte of Saint John, David (Sandra) Scribner of Rothesay, Gary Scribner of South Branch, Brian Scribner of BC and Brenda Simpson of South Branch, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, sister Novello Burnside of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased sisters; Margaret Joudrey and Elizabeth Healey and brothers; Golden and Everett Scribner. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday February 23, 2009 in the funeral home chapel at 2:00PM. Donations made to the Sussex Wesleyan Church or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery in the spring.
