Obituary of Emma M. Summers
The death of Emma M. Summers of Sussex Corner and formerly of Penobsquis, wife of the late Floyd C. Summers, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 18, 2004. Emma was born on August 31, 1927 at Norton, NB, a daughter of the late Elmer and Elva (Parks) Myers. Emma owned and operated The Mystery Crater at Penobsquis for 30 years and she was an accomplished painter. She leaves to mourn her daughter Carlotta (Ted) Flegel of Bowser, BC, grandchildren Rebecca and Thomas Flegel and Matthew Hamilton, brother Hazen Myers of Sussex, sister-in-law Joyce Myers of Sussex, sister Maxine Myers of Nepean, ON, nieces Cindy, Candace and Linda, nephews Dale Myers and Bradley Lowartz, stepson Gord (Wendy) Summers of Mississauga, ON and stepdaughter Marlene Summers (John Gillan) of New Market, ON, and their children, great niece Shawn and great nephew Samuel, step brother Arthur (Norma) Jones of Cambridge Narrows, many friends in the Cancer Support Group and the many friends at the Square Dance Clubs and friends at the Apohaqui Community Church. Emma was predeceased by her first husband Perry Hamilton and their son Dick and her brother William Myers. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Saturday from 7-9 and on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday March 22, 2004 at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM. Reverend Kevin Vincent will officiate. Interment will be at Riverbank Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations made to the Apohaqui Community Church, Canadian Cancer Society or the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated by the family. There will be an Eastern Star Service on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM.
