Obituary of George Edmund Rouse

Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend, George Edmund Rouse, has gone home to be with his Lord, having faithfully served Him all his life. Formerly of Corn Hill, NB, George passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on February 20, 2014, where he had been a resident since September 2012. Born in Corn Hill on June 3, 1923, George was the only son of the late Frank H. and Viola M. (Elliott) Rouse. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. George was a life-long member of the Corn Hill United Baptist Church having held various church offices over the years. He was a veteran of World War II serving overseas with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and North Shore regiments. He farmed in Corn Hill for many years and drove a school bus for the Petitcodiac District for 16 years. He worked for the Department of Transportation on the snow plow with his good friend, Walton Keith. He was a member of the Petitcodiac Legion #41 and a charter member of the Corn Ridge Seniors. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, the former Myrtle Irene McCully, his sister Beulah L. Marr, and great grandson Matthew Colin Rouse. He is survived by his two sons … Gary G. and his wife Susan of Moncton and David C. and his wife Pauline of Sussex Corner; seven grandchildren … Colin Rouse (Michelle), Lisa Rouse, Kelly Saulnier (Mike), Chuck Rouse (Caroline), Shawn Rouse (Amanda), Stacey Charlton (Richard), and Michael Rouse (Misty); also by 13 great grandchildren … Alex, Emily, Carson, Hannah, Celina, Zachary, Cameron, Emmersyn, Marcus, Megan, Olivia, Tanner, and Rylan; niece June Castellon (Pablo) of Ciudad Cochabamba, Cochabamba, Bolivia, nephews Arthur (Elaine) of Sussex Corner and Jim (Wendy) of Richmond, Ontario and their families. George is resting at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, February 21, 2014. The funeral will be held from the Corn Hill United Baptist Church at 1 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2014, with a private family interment in the adjoining cemetery at a later date.
