Obituary of Kenneth Francis Layden
Layden, Kenneth Francis It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Kenneth Francis Layden at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick on January 14, 2017. He was the son of the late Kenneth Clement Layden and Evelyn Connors Layden. Ken is survived by his partner, Maureen O'Connor; his mother Evelyn; his sister Margie Layden-Oreto (Tony); brothers Richard (Ruth McCowan), Peter (Crystal), his brother-in-law Donald Stevenson; his nieces Christine Layden and Kathleen Oreto; his nephews Daniel Stevenson (Sara), Michael Stevenson, Jason Oreto, David Layden (Sarah) and Matthew Layden; his great nephews Benjamin, James and Samuel. Besides his father in 2014 he was predeceased by his sister, Honourable Madam Justice Carolyn Layden-Stevenson in 2012 and his nephew Brendon Oreto in 1998. Ken was born on October 6, 1955, in Saint John, NB. Ken had a big heart, dabbled in writing poetry, was energized when discussing politics, was a talented guitaristloved musicand was a Beatles aficionado. Ken also was an avid golfer and skier. He loved travelling and his favourite and most frequented destinations were Acapulco, Montreal and Goshen. Ken’s work experience included photography, sales and finance. He recently retired from Maritime Auto Value. Ken had an entrepreneurial spirit having been part owner of the Fiddlehead Pub and founder of Right Shot Photography. His proudest accomplishment was launching Universal Portrait Studios Ltd. in Canada in 1983. Ken is resting at Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex NB from where visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22nd from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by his uncle, Rev. Donald Layden CSC at the Church of the Most Precious Blood on Monday, January 23rd at 1:00 pm, 1 Upper Goshen Road, Goshen, NB. The family would like to thank the medical team of the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital for their care and compassion during Ken’s time with them.
