Obituary of Richard Allan Gaunce

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Richard Allan “Dick” Gaunce at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 6, 2015 with his family at his side. He passed away from complications from pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Sussex, NB on February 18, 1947, he was a son of the late Frank and Izzetta Gaunce. He lived his entire life in Lower Millstream. He was a self-employed trucker all his life. He was a founding member of the Millstream Fire Department, and he often groomed trails for the Millstream Snowmobile Club. He loved hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, but above all, he loved spending time at his beloved camp; he will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife Peggy (nee Bell); his sons: Jeffrey (Denise) of Norton and Andrew (Kelly) of Hampton; his daughters: Joanne of Sussex and Vicky of Berwick; seven grandchildren: Mya McDermott, Skye McDermott, Kayley Gaunce, Kandace Gaunce, Andrew Gaunce, Sophia Gaunce, and Maxwell Gaunce; his sister Ann (Doug) Taylor of Lower Millstream; his sister-in-law Ann Clayton of England; as well as other members of the family. Dick was predeceased by his parents and his infant brother Jack. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) from where visitation will be held on Thursday July 9, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held in the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home Chapel on Friday July 10, 2015 at 11:30 am. Interment will be held in the Wesley United Church Cemetery, Berwick. For those who wish, donations to the New Brunswick Lung Association would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank Doctors Adrianni and Haslett, EMH Sussex (especially Todd Mumford), Vital Aire, EMT’s and staff of Sussex ER, and the staff and doctors of MICU for all their care during Dick’s hard fought fight with his lung disease.
