Obituary of Foster Howe

Howe, Foster “Bud” A., 84, of Rothesay passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on June 14, 2016. Born in Hillsdale, he was a son of the late Ora and Violet (nee Nicolson) Howe. Bud joined the RCMP in 1949; his first posting was in Ingonish in the Cape Breton Highlands where he met his wife of 59 years, Rene Howe (nee Phillips). Bud and Rene moved from posting to posting, including Halifax, Fredericton, Montreal, Winnipeg, and Ottawa. Bud was last posted to Toronto where he retired with a rank of Assistant Commissioner C.O. of “O” Division. He always remained a member of the RCMP Veterans organization. Besides his wife Rene, Bud is survived by his children: Patricia Howe (Bill Elcombe) of Mississauga, ON, Glenn Howe of Moncton, NB, Ellen Vaz (Wayne) of San Ramon, CA, and Sandra Howe of Burnaby, BC; his brother Bill Howe (Cathy) of Thunder Bay, ON; his grandchildren: James & Alex Elcombe, and Jessica and Jeffery Vaz; as well as by many extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Bud was predeceased by his brother Robert “Bobby” Howe. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB. As per Bud’s request, a private family service will be held.
