Obituary of Everett E. Arnold
Our Dear Father, Everett Arnold of Newline Rd, Sussex Corner, NB passed away peacefully on May 7 at the Sussex Kiwanis Nursing Home at the age of 95. Born in 1918 in Parlee Brook, NB, to Talbert and Annie (nee Cromwell) Arnold, he was one of ten children. Everett was the loving husband to Florence (nee Robinson) Arnold who passed only hours before him. Everett is survived by his children: Glenna (Keith), Jim (Carol) and Steven; grandchildren: Kerry (Blair), Jason (Lisa), Heather (Mike), Carla, Erin (Darren), Aaron (Courtney), Colby, Anne, Jason and Shania; great-grandchildren: Isabella, Ty, Benjamin, Gretchen, Chase and Elsa; sisters: Dorothy Jones and Lillian Anderson; his brother Harold Arnold; his sister-in-law Elsie Robinson; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by daughter Lois and son Ross; grandson Matthew and great-granddaughter Brynn; sisters: Edna Sharp and Gertrude Folkins; and brothers: Jim, Bill, Warren and George Arnold. During the war, Everett was with the RCEME, Group C as a motor mechanic and served in Aldershot, England. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #20, Golden K as well as a member of the Orange Lodge for over 65 years. Everett was a member of St. John’s United Church where he held various church offices including the Board of Stewards. He and Florence were avid gardeners and were members of the Naturalist Club. He was a farmer and carpenter who worked hard all his life. Everetts’ smile lit up a room and he had great love and devotion for his family. He was loved dearly in return and he will be Greatly Missed. The family wishes to thank the Kiwanis Nursing Home Staff for the excellent care of their parents during their stay. Everett is resting at Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, from where visitation will be held on May 8, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Legion Tribute will be held on May 8 at 5:30pm and an Orange Lodge Tribute will be held at 5:45pm. The funeral service will be held at St. John’s United Church, Sussex Corner on May 9, at 2:00pm with Rev. Eugene Fisher presiding. Interment will take place at the Kirk Hill Cemetery.
