Obituary of Margaret A. Walsh

The death of Margaret A. (Hennigar) Walsh occurred at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex on Friday May 9, 2008. Margaret was the beloved wife of R.L. Joseph Walsh. Born in Morden, NS on December 6, 1926, a daughter of the late Cranmer and Yolande Hennigar. Margaret is survived by her ever-loving husband R.L. Joseph Walsh, daughter Louise (John) Poirier of Halifax, NS and grandchildren Kenneth and Neil, daughter Karen (Daniel) Duguay of Sussex Corner and grandchildren Joey (Susan), Jeremy (Christie), Kathleen (Marc), Louise and Denise, daughter Angela Lombard (Steven) of Fredericton and grandchildren Tyler and Maddison, son Brian (Susan) of Nauwigewauk, NB and grandchildren Matthew and Michael and son Derek (Lucy) of Fort McMurray, AB and grandchildren Daniel, Jeremiah and Jonathan, sisters; Christine Fair of Dartmouth, NS, Gloria McNeil of Burlington, ON and Jennie Hennigar of Toronto, ON, brothers; Raymond Hennigar, Arnold (Bessie) Hennigar and Gordon Hennigar, all of Toronto, ON and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Sharon and Fred Vidican for their constant love and support. Margaret graduated from High School at the age of 15 and went on to teach grades 1 through 12 in a one-room schoolhouse in rural Nova Scotia. She moved to Halifax and became an accounting clerk at Simpson’s Department Store. She met and married the love of her life in 1951 and raised five children. In 1965, after moving to Fredericton, she returned to the workforce as an accounting clerk at Lavine’s, moving then to the provincial government and then to the NB Liquor Corporation, where she remained until her retirement. Margaret was a Past President of the Senior Citizens Club in Hampton. She had a passion for gardening, spending many hours among her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved cross country skiing and was a member of the Wastawea Ski Club. She most cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Sunday from 3-7PM. Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Church Avenue Sussex on Monday May 12, 2008 at 2:00PM. Interment will be at St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Hampton. Doantions made to the Kiwanis Nursing Home or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
