Obituary of Shirley Eileen Murray

Murray, Shirley Eileen, 87, of Birch Haven Special Care Home, passed away at the Sussex Health Center on November 15, 2013. Born in Prosser Brook, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Hettie (nee Colpitts) Prosser, and wife of the late Harold James Murray. Shirley enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, she loved to spend time with and spoil her grandchildren and enjoyed listening to country music. She enjoyed her shopping trips to Boston with her sisters and had a love for cats. Shirley is survived by her son, H. Thomas “Tom” Murray (Lorraine), and her daughter, Debbie McFarlane (Jim); her grandchildren: Scott Murray, Kelly Gillies (Wayne), Denise Winchester (Mike), Jodi McFarlane, Tania Murray, Tina Murray (Scott), James Murray and Miranda Murray (Mike); great grandchildren: Alex and Keaton Gillies, Morgan and Dakota Winchester, Lachlan McFarlane, Justine and Tanner Murray, and Mitchell and Jillian Baskin as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Shirley was predeceased by her sons: Terry and Mike Murray; her daughter, Patricia Murray, as well as several brothers and sisters. Shirley was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB (506) 433-2133, from where visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 6-9pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 1:00pm, with Rev. Leo Gallant presiding, in the Sussex Select Chapel. The interment will take place at St. Michaels Cemetery in Newtown.
