It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Judy Elizabeth Shannon, of Sussex, on Sunday, August 28th, 2016 at her home. Judy was born at Urney Road on September 3, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Bob and Mildred (McLeod) Shannon. Judy attended school in Sussex and went on to university where she earned her nursing degree. She worked for many years as a Public Health Nurse. She retired in 2007 and kept herself very busy with her many interests. Judy was involved in many outdoor activities including golf, curling, snowshoeing, skiing, both cross country and downhill. Judy was an avid gardener and just loved outside. Judy will be lovingly remembered by her sister Shirley Adair (Alton) of Adair Road; her brothers: Sam Shannon (Edith) of Urney and Bob Shannon (Sue) of Douglas; her nieces and nephews: Sheri Shannon, Sonya Gilks (Trevor), Robbie Shannon (Michelle), Amy Butler, Sam Adair, Joe Adair (Jessica), David Adair (Shanna), Laura Adair (Jason), Rebecca Colford (Chris) and Marty Wesko (Jane). Arrangements are in the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB (506) 433-2133. Visitation will be held at St. John’s United Church, Sussex Corner, NB on Thursday, September 1, 2016 beginning at 10:00am until the service celebrating Judy’s life begins at 11:00am. There will be a time of fellowship and refreshments following the service at the Church Hall.
