Muriel Mason was born in the Head of millstream on October 20th, 1930; she was the daughter of the late Murray and Eva (Parlee) Wright and the devoted wife of the late Gerald Mason for 47 years who passed away in 1995. Muriel moved to Newtown as a young bride at the age of 17 years and remained for 56 years where she and Gerald farmed and raised their family. Although busy raising their children she was always involved in the community and church activities. She was a longstanding member of the Newtown United Church, a member of the church choir and a Life member of the United Church Women for over 50 years having joined at the young age of 23 years. In 2004 Muriel moved to Sussex into a neighborhood with exceptional people. Her lifelong passions were gardening, family and friends. She also enjoyed line dancing, exercising, Geri-fitness, walking and volunteering for the Sussex Tourism Center. All who knew her were touched by her faith, strength, courage, positive attitude, sense of humor and devotion to her family and many friends. She will be remembered by many for her smile and gentle, quiet presence.
