The death of Harmke (DeBoer) Plaggenborg of Smiths Creek occurred at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on November 29, 2010 at the age of 96. She was the wife of the late Harm Plaggenborg. Harmke was born in Groningen Province, Holland, a daughter of the late Roelof and Ariena (Poelman) DeBoer. She is survived by her six children; Derkje Smith, Ariena (Hilton) McLean, Johanna (Graydon) Kierstead, Johannes (Mary) Plaggenborg, Roelfina (Bruce) Chown and Eltina (Thomas) Devlin, all of the Sussex area, nineteen grandchildren and their spouses and thirty-four great grandchildren, brother Tjeered DeBoer, sister Ariena Schut and several nieces and nephews all of Holland. Harmke was predeceased by her husband Harm, grandsons; Carl and Marty Smith, son-in-law Allan Smith, brothers; Roelof, Wilt and Jan DeBoer and sister Jantje VanDen Berg. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Tuesday from 6-9PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 1, 2010 at 10:00AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Moncton.
