Obituary of Mildred Hazel Law

Mildred Hazel Law passed away peacefully at the Sussex Health Centre on November 18, 2014. The seventh of eight children, she was born in Glenvale, NB to the late Laura Mae (nee Patterson) and William Ira Law. Graduating valedictorian from the Hampton Consolidated School, continuing her education at Toronto Bible School, she graduated from Acadia University in 1953. Her calling for missions began with the Canadian Baptist Foreign Mission Board in 1954 and continued nearly four decades retiring from the Canadian International Ministries in 1989. Retiring to Sussex where she purchased a home, she remained active in various volunteer functions including being a valued member of the Sussex Baptist Church, including youth leader, contributing until recently when failing health prevented full participation. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Laura Bonney of Nauwigewauk; her brothers-in-law, Murray Spragg of Keirsteadville, and Herb Cheesman of Ottawa; as well as by many nieces (including missionary Laura A. Bonney serving with World Ventures in Kampala, Uganda), nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides her parents, Mildred was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133), from where visitation will be held on Friday November 21, 2014 from 2-4 &6-8. A funeral service for Mildred will be held from the Sussex Baptist Church on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Dr. Leo Gallant presiding. Interment will be held in the Hampton Rural Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Canadian Baptist Ministries or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
