Bob Anderson

Obituary of Bob Anderson

Robert William Anderson was born to Sam and Millie (Parlee) Anderson in Sussex on March 24, 1941; he was the second of three children. Barb Dunphy was his elder sister and Joe followed. Bob grew up enjoying all sports as well as the outdoors, often spending summers with his grandparents at the Head of Millstream. After high school Bob enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served for three years based out of Halifax. After his release he met Susan Mercer of Apohaqui whom he later married and spent the remainder of his life with. He entered the Maritime Forest Ranger School and graduated in 1965. He went to work with the Department of Natural Resources as a Forest Ranger and was proud to serve the badge until his retirement 38 years later. Many of his work peers were like a second family to Bob. Bob and Susan had two children. Melissa was born in 1966 and Rob followed in 1967. There were many things important to Bob throughout his life. He was extremely devoted to his family, and was a wonderful husband and involved father. He made time to spend with his children and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife, Susan (Mercer); his daughter, Melissa DeWinter and her husband Cornell of Sussex; his son, Rob and his wife Kelly of Belleisle Creek; his brother, Joe and his wife Margie Rose of Hampton; his sister, Barb Dunphy and her husband Mac of Fredericton and his chosen sister, Betty Adair and her husband Doug of Millbrook; his mother in law, Grace Mercer, a special aunt, Dorothy Anderson, seven beloved grandchildren: Marika, Nate, Kate, Caroline DeWinter, Sam, Teagan and Seth Anderson; four sisters-in-law: Nancy Murray of Penobsquis, Maryann Sproul of Sussex, Cathy Alexander of Penobsquis and Jane Cunningham of Sussex Corner; as well as several nieces and nephews.
