The death of Archibald William McGibbon of Sussex occurred at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on November 20, 2009 at the age of 87. Born at Anagance Ridge, NB, he was a son of the late William and Jeanie (Bryce) McGibbon. Archie is survived by his wife Jean (Anderson) McGibbon, their children; Doreen (Reg) Busson of Chipman, Murray (Pat) McGibbon of Sussex, Kenneth McGibbon of Churchill, MB, Anne (Bruce) Jackson, John (Mary Anne) McGibbon, all of Sussex and Brenda (Roy) Kaye of Sussex Corner, grandchildren; Dale Long, Bonnie (Sandy) Brake, Caran (Sheldon) Seward, Brandy McGibbon, Coleen (Morgan) Gibson, Jeremy (Sheri) Jackson, Heather Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Troy (Vanessa) McGibbon, Joel (Jessi) McGibbon, Garrett (Gillian) Kaye and Holly (Justin) Carhart, great grandchildren; Julieanne, Liam, Blake, Riley, Connor, Bailey, John Paul, Elias, Carter, Alicia, Derick, Nolan, Reegan and Leah, sister Eris MacIntosh of Chatham, ON sisters-in-law; Pauline McGibbon of Anagance, Pauline (Tony) Mills of Sussex, brother-in-law Lloyd (Audrey) Anderson of Oliver, BC and several nieces and nephews. Archie was predeceased by his sisters; Jean Harper, Bessie Elliott, Elsie Hunt, Glennie Northrup and his brother Gordon McGibbon. Archie was a dairy farmer, he was on the Sussex Co-Op Board of Directors and was a founding member of the Kings County Agricultural Museum. He was a Senior Elder at St. Paul’s United Church, a charter member of the Sussex Vale Golden “K” and enjoyed the Crokinole Club and the Kennebecasis Naturalist Society. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 25, 2009 at 11:00AM at St. Paul’s United Church, Sussex with Reverend Leander Mills officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Corn Hill. Donations made to the St. Paul’s United Church, the Palliative Care at the Kiwanis Nursing Home or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
