John “Ralph” Baird, 87, of Sussex, passed away on October 8, 2015. Born on April 13, 1928 in Titusville, NB, he was a son of the late Stover and Annette (nee Fletcher) Baird, and the loving husband to Joyce (nee Hopper) Baird. Ralph worked as a mechanic and was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch #28 and belonged to the brotherhood at Trinity Anglican Church. He was also an avid vendor at flea markets. Ralph was involved in many other volunteer activities, too numerous to mention. Besides his loving wife Joyce, Ralph is survived by his sons: John “Jack” Baird (Nancy Simpkins) of Charlottetown, PEI, and Brian Baird (Mary Bishop) of Saint John; daughter: Joan (David) Gallant of Moncton; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends. Besides his parents Ralph was predeceased by his sister Marion Allaby. . Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506)433-2133, from where visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, with a Legion Branch # 28 Tribute at 5:45pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, at 2pm at Trinity Anglican Church. Interment will be held in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Smithtown.
