Obituary of Arnold Gerard Theodore Beyer
Arnold Beyer Farmer … Loving Partner … Kind Father & Grandfather Arnold died peacefully at his home in Norton. Arnold was born in Druten, Netherlands, a son of the late Maria & Arnold Beyer. He was the loving husband of 64 years to Theodora (Dora) Beyer (nee van Ooyen) who passed away in May, 2016. Arnold’s interest in animals and farming started at a young age as he worked on the family farm and studied at agricultural school. He also served in the Dutch Army having been deployed to Indonesia from November 1947 until May 1950. In 1952, Arnold and Dora were married and immigrated to Canada, arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax. They initially moved to Chatham, Ontario for work, before eventually moving in 1958 to Norton, NB. It was here where they realized their dream of owning their own farm. Arnold was a very hard worker and a devoted family man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends always ready for an interesting conversation with a cup of coffee or tea. He could always be found enjoying a lively hockey game on TV, reading, and doing puzzles. Predeceased by his loving wife Dora; his daughters: Maria and Dorothy. Arnold will be deeply missed by his seven children: Henriette (Gord) McIntyre, Arlene (Phil) Jamieson, Arnold (Jean) Beyer, Angela (Bernie) Michaud, Stan (Donna) Beyer, Rosanne Beyer, Janet (Alan) Munroe; his son-in-law Lars Johannesson. Opa will be missed by his grandchildren: Anna, Kim (Matt), Kayla, Tania, Stefan, Marcus, Brandon, Matthew, Greg, Jake, Robyn, Jonas, and Garet. Arnold is also survived by his sister Nettie, sisters-in-law Lise, Riek, Annie, Christine, and Tini all living in the Netherlands, as well as by many, many nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex, from where visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec.15, 2016 from 6-8pm; a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Norton on Friday, Dec.16, 2016 at 11:00am, with Father Dan Bastarache officiating. Interment will be held in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Red Cross would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to those who visited and cared for Arnold, in particular they want to give sincere thanks to his wonderful and beloved care giver, Donna Kyte, and to Dodie Campbell & Della Griffiths.
