The death of Garnet Clifford MacKenzie of Sussex Corner occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on January 25, 2007 at the age of 80. Born at Cochrane, ON he was a son of the late Henry A. and Gladys E. (Carson) MacKenzie. Garnet was a Veteran of WWII He is survived by his wife of 56 years Annette J. (Côté) MacKenzie, daughters; Muriel Gray (Joseph) of Midland, Mary Anne McGibbon (John) of Sussex, sons; Wayne (Jane) MacKenzie of Burlington, ON and John MacKenzie of Millbrook, grandchildren; Lori Gray (John Kerstens), Michael Gray (Tara), Jordan, Carolyn and Lauren MacKenzie, Troy McGibbon (Vanessa) and Joel McGibbon (Jessi Mitton) and great grandchildren Carter, Alicia and Derick. Garnet was predeceased by his sister Emma Johncox and brother Carson MacKenzie. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex on Tuesday from 3-8PM. Sussex Branch #20 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Tribute Service on Tuesday at 2:45PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 31 2007 at the Sussex United Baptist Church at 2:00PM. Interment will be at Riverbank Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke, Gideon Bibles or the charity of one’s choice.
