Obituary of Roland Chesley Ricketts

Roland “Roley” Chesley Ricketts, 90, of Sussex passed away on August7, 2017 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born James’ Town, NL, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Lane) Ricketts.

Roley was retired from working for JD Irving, Lane’s Bakery and Baxter’s in Saint John. He was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, and a former member of the Salvation Army. He was an avid baseball fan, and enjoyed cheering for the Blue Jays.

Roley is survived by his beloved wife Joyce Ann (nee Crouse) Ricketts; his daughters: Lori Crouse of Sussex, Linda Rennie (Howard Jr.) of Southfield, and Lesley Ricketts (Clovis Roy) of Sussex; his grandchildren: Amy, Scott, Danielle, Logan, Nathaniel & Amelia; 4 great-grandchildren; as well as many other extended family members and friends.

Besides his parents, Roley was predeceased by his sisters: Lucy Ricketts and Nellie Hicks.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Rd., Sussex (506-433-2133). No visitation will be held by request. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church on Friday August 11, 2017 at 2:00 pm with The Rev. Canon Thomas Stradwick presiding. Interment will be held in Trinity Anglican Cemetery.
