Rachelle Cherie deGooyer of Apohaqui, passed away peacefully at her home on December 14, 2010, after a courageous, well fought battle at the age of 37. Rachelle is survived by her husband John deGooyer, her children Gabrielle and Jonathan, her parents Ken and Betty Dunfield of Waterford, her sister Tammie (Robert) McPhee of Waterford, her parents-in-law Ron and Willie deGooyer of Parleeville, siblings-in-law Willem (Lisa) deGooyer of New Denmark, Ineke (John) Robinson of Hazel Hill, Cora (Scott) Royce of Ontario and Ron (Terri) deGooyer of Lower Millstream, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Rachelle was and is a true inspiration and friend to all. The devotion and love shown to her family and friends, spread so much farther than her home. She was always willing to help or support a worthy cause, helping out with the event or raising money, such as the Run for the Cure in Saint John and the Relay for Life in Sussex. Rachelle loved to volunteer at the school, especially with basketball and was always there to cheer on Gabrielle and her team. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Thursday from 1-3 and 6-9PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday December 17, 2010 at St. Paul’s United Church, Sussex at 11:00AM. Donations made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
