Obituary of Norma M. Melvin

Melvin, Norma Mary, 72, of Sussex Corner, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 2, 2013. Born in Corn Hill on July 13, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Vonda (nee Tamblyn) Branscombe, and the wife of the late John Melvin. Norma was a former member of the Corn Hill Women’s Institute. She enjoyed a good cup of tea, making donuts, cheering for the Blue Jays, gardening and nature, and she especially cherished time spent at the camp. Norma is survived by her children: Joyce McFarlane (Hugh) of Anagance Ridge, Judy Vandebrand (Fred) of Penobsquis, Brenda Melvin (Paul Bourque) of Cap Pele, Jim Melvin (Monique) of Dieppe, Beth Stanley (Jim Noble) of Palm Harbour, Florida, Wendy Jack (Allen) of Elgin, Jack Melvin of Edson, Alberta, and Michael Melvin (Cynthia) of Petawawa, Ontario; her brother, Lynn Branscombe of Boundary Creek; brother-in-law, Ralph Melvin of Ontario; sisters-in-law: Carol Branscombe and Joan Branscombe of Sussex, and Minnie Rouse of Petitcodiac; thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; as well as by many extended family members and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Norma was predeceased by her granddaughter, Sharon Vey; and by her brother, Carl Branscombe. No visitation by Norma’s request. A service commemorating Norma’s life will be held on Monday May 6, 2013 at 11:00 am in Armstrong’s Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac. Interment will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery.
