Obituary of Everett Murray Folkins
Everett Murray Folkins, 85, of Elgin and formerly of Saint John, passed away at the Moncton Hospital, surrounded by family, on March 11, 2016.
Born in Millstream, NB, he was a son of the late Samuel and Annie (nee Steen) Folkins. Everett worked for many years as a carpenter and plumber; he was still doing carpentry well into his 80’s. One of his favorite pastimes was harness racing, spending many hours watching at the track or on the television.
Everett is survived by his sons: Murray Folkins of Calgary, AB, Jeffrey Folkins (Nicole) of Hampton, NB, and Douglas Folkins (Katie) of London, ON; his daughters: Terry Goggin (Milton) of Elgin, and Vickie Campbell (Darrell) of Hampton, NB; his brother Garfield Folkins of Lloydminster, SK; his uncle Murray Steen of Snider Mountain, NB; his special grandson Doug; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & great-great-grandchildren; as well as by many extended family members and friends.
Besides his parents, Everett was predeceased by his wife, Myrtle Folkins (nee Riley); and his brother Joseph Folkins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Armstrong’s Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac, NB. There will be a graveside service in the Hampton Rural Cemetery later this year.
