Obituary of Ronald William Powell

The sudden death of Ronald “Ronnie” Powell, 62, of Millbrook, husband and best friend of Deborah (Moore), occurred on Saturday, January 3, 2015. Ronnie was born in Sussex on July 9, 1952. He was the son of Flossie (Robinson) and the late Arthur Powell. In addition to his wife and mother, Ronnie is survived by his precious children and their spouses: Maria Powell and Colin Friars; and Anthony and Jennie Powell; sisters: Joan (late Ronald) Folkins, Catherine (Donald) Roy and Susan (late Lawrence) Adair; brother Carl (Joan) Powell; father-in-law, R. Stewart Moore; brother-in-law George Moore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ronnie was predeceased by his father Arthur, brother David and Mother-in-law Bertha Moore. Ronnie and Debbie were married on July 22, 1978. Maria joined them in 1980, followed by Anthony in 1985. Ronnie retired from PCS in May 2014, after a career as an industrial mechanic. Ronnie loved the outdoors: four-wheeling, snowmobiling, working in the woodpile and driving his beamer. Ronnie and Debbie were avid travelers but this time Ronnie went ahead on his own. It was time for him to be with his dad, who died when Ronnie was six. For them, it will be a joyful reunion; for those left behind, heartbreak. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, (506)433-2133. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at 1:00 pm all in the Sussex Select Chapel with the Rev. Allen Tapley presiding. Donations to the Saint John Regional Cardiac Unit, War Amps or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
