The death of Gerald Edward MacDonald of Hammondvale, NB, occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on January 25, 2014 at the age of 60. Gerry was born at Sussex, NB, the eldest son of the late Malcolm and Doris (nee Bell) MacDonald. Gerry was the husband of the late Clara MacDonald (nee McLong) who passed away on February 25, 2010. He is survived by his son Trevor of Edmonton AB; his daughter Melanie Munford (Nick) and his twin granddaughters Haylie and Emma Munford all of Moncton; brother Ronald MacDonald (Maggie) of Hammondvale; niece Juanita D. MacDonald of Riverview; aunt Nina Snider of Sussex; brother-in-law, David McLong (Wendy) of Sussex Corner as well as by many other extended family members and friends. Gerry was a tractor mechanic and was most recently employed with Arbing Equipment. He enjoyed spending his free time on the family farm with Ronnie, playing cards, watching Jeopardy and baseball & hockey (especially the Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Blue Jays). He also enjoyed annual summer vacations to Cavendish, PEI with his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex NB, (506-433-2133) where visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 6pm to 9pm and on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 1pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11am with Reverend Allen Tapley officiating. Interment will follow at Hammondvale Cemetery.
