Obituary of Howe Ross McPhee
The death of Howe Ross McPhee of Penobsquis occurred at his residence on January 9, 2003 at the age of 78 after a lengthy illness. Born in Penobsquis on August 21, 1924 a son of the late Thomas and Irena (Colpitts) McPhee. Howe worked in the woods and for the Department of Transportation until he retired in 1989 after 19 years as a seasonal job at the parks. He enjoyed playing the guitar, music, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Joyce (Marr), a loving father to sons Gerald (Darlene), Parleeville and Ronald and his companion Rhonda, Moncton, daughters Darlene (Peter) Black, River Glade, NB and Carol (Murray) Long, Antigonish, NS. A loving grandfather to nine grandsons, two granddaughters and one great grandson. A special brother to Clement (Tid) Frances, Eugene (Ruth), Randall (Madeline), all of Penobsquis, Phyllis (Robert) Jones, Barb (Cecil) Sears both of Penobsquis, Elva (Winston) Greer, Petitcodiac, Mildred (William) Folkins, Pleasant Ridge, sister-in-laws Mary and Leta McPhee of Penobsquis, a special aunt Irene Colpitts of Penobsquis and several nieces and nephews. Howe was predeceased by two sons Lloyd Allan (4yrs) and Derek Thomas (9days), brothers Gerald (at infancy), Emery and Donald, sister-in-law Ruby McPhee and brother-in-law Gordon Kelso. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Penobsquis United Baptist Church on Sunday January 12, 2003 at 2:30PM with Pastor Gordon MacKenzie officiating. Interment will be in Cardwell Cemetery. In Howe's memory donations to the Canadian Red Cross or the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
