Obituary of Ralph Worchester Agnew
Ralph Worchester Agnew passed away on February 23, 2015 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home at the age of 89. Born on July 18, 1925 in Millinocket Maine, Ralph was a son to the late George and Eva (nee Scopie) Agnew. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Barbara (nee Elliott) Agnew; daughters: Rose (Pete) Nicol, Hazel (Brian) Jacquard; sons: Jerry, Jimmy and Ed; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; his brother Doug Agnew and his sister Barbara Jones. Besides his parents Ralph was predeceased by his daughter Nancy Sharp; his brothers: Henry, Bill, Leonard and Frank and by his sister Isabelle Mills. Ralph went to school in Fredericton until grade 4. Following, he did work around the house for his father including cutting the grass and other various chores. Ralph met Barbara while working in Saint John. He met her as a result of her friendship with his sister Barbara. They were wed on July 25, 1958. They lived in Saint John for many years before moving to Sussex. Ralph served in the Army as a cook and a watchman. He worked at the Saint John Dry Dock and also worked for the City of Saint John for 14 years. He plowed snow and drove a tracking machine, which was used for cleaning the streets and sidewalks. Ralph had many hobbies which included hunting and fishing, building furniture and doing puzzle books. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, 433-2133. As per Ralph’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A graveside service will be held in Evergreen Memorial Gardens at a later date.
