Obituary of Joy Harcourt Vernon
The Rev. Dr. Joy Harcourt Vernon, R.N., S.Th., B.A., B.SW., M.S.W., D.Min., died at Embassy Hall Shannex, Quispamsis, NB on August 19, 2017.
Born to Alice Margaret (Cayley) and Arthur Arundel Harcourt Vernon on August 5, 1934 in Toronto, ON.
She was predeceased by her Godmother Ray D’Arcy Osler (Cayley) in 2004; her brothers: Granville Patrick Harcourt Vernon in 2005, and Hugh Harcourt Vernon in 2003.
She is survived by her only sister, Rosemary Moorhead (late John) of Sussex, NB and her brother John Anthony Harcourt Vernon (Sue Elaine) of Barrie, ON; sisters-in-law: Debby and Shirley, as well as by many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
She was a member of the Anglican Network in Canada (Christ the King) and the Nurses Christian Fellowship. Despite facing many challenges, Joy was an enthusiastic sportswoman, sailor (Sea Hymn), singer, artist, traveller, and a generous friend to many.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB (506-433-2133). The funeral service will be on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Mark's Anglican Church, Sussex Corner. A time of fellowship will follow. Committal of the ashes will take place at a later date.
