The death of Robert Bertram “Bert” Anderson of Sussex and formerly of Apohaqui occurred at the Sussex Health Center on April 14, 2004. Born at Apohaqui on October 3, 1914, he was a son of the late Robert and Sarah M. (McEwen) Anderson. Bert was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his sister in law Marie (Crawford) Anderson of Sussex, nieces; Georgie Keith (Ernie) of Roachville, Shirley Luffman (Stuart) of Sussex, Doris Lewis (Art) of Quispamsis and Joan Saunders of Barnesville, nephews; Robert Groundwater of BC, Edward (Barb) Groundwater of Quispamsis and Reginald Groundwater of BC. Bert was predeceased by his sister Hazel Groundwater and brothers Herbert, Milton and George Harold Anderson. Bert was an avid gardener; he enjoyed traveling and bowling and was a member of the Keeping Young Club. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Church of the Ascension in Apohaqui on Saturday April 17, 2004 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Leo Martin officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations made to the Church of the Ascension Building Fund or the charity of the donor's choice, would be appreciated by the family.
