On June 9, 2005, Marie “Babe” Elizabeth Flieger went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. A resident of Wolfville, NS and formerly Sussex, NB, Babe was a daughter of the late Harry and Isabella (George) Guptell and was born in Grand Pre, NS on December 17, 1924. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Flieger who passed away March 15, 1977. She is survived by sons Robert and Betty Jean of Harbourville, NS, Gary and Doreen of Keswick Ridge, NB, Byron “Barney” and Sandy of Windsor, ON and daughters Cheryl and Heather both of Calgary, AB, grandchildren Krista, Jackie, Jodi, Jonathan and Jessica, great grandchildren Payden, Gillian, Augusta and Reegan, sisters Gladys Watters (Bill?predeceased) of Wolfville and son Billy, and Margaret “Jean” Smith (Bill) of Hantsport, NS and daughters Maxine and Margy-Rose and several other nieces and nephews. Babe was predeceased by brothers Charles and Blake Guptell. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Sunday from 7-9 PM and on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. On Tuesday June 14, 2005 following a private committal service at Kirk Hill Cemetery, Sussex, the funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, Sussex at 1:00 PM. On Thursday June 16, 2005 a memorial service will be held at St. Andrews United Church, Main Street, Wolfville, NS at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Babes wishes for donations include the Kiwanis Nursing Home or the Dialysis Unit at the Sussex Health Centre.
