Mrs. Doris Venetta Wortman (Hayward), of Sussex Corner, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Doris was the daughter of the late Wellen and Ethel (McKinley) Hayward and the wife of the late Robert Wortman who passed away in 2008. Doris was a member of St. John’s United Church as well as the Choir, Ladies Orange Benevolent Association #1407(Waterford Gems), Crystal Chapter #13 L.O.L, the Rockville Womens Institute as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #20. Doris will be lovingly remembered by her son Douglas Wortman (Joanne) of Newline; her grandchildren: Corey Wortman and Kerry Wortman of Newline, Tracy McLaughlin (Jim) of Norton and Tammy Hourihan (Darren) of Salt Springs; her great grandchildren: Abby and Kyle Hourihan and Holly and Ryan McLaughlin; her sisters-in-law: Olive Morrissey of Kingston and Marilyn Wortman of Moncton. Doris was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her son R. James Wortman on November 11, 1968 as well as her sister Margaret Brantnall. Arrangements are in the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB (506) 433-2133 from where visitation will be held on Friday, September 16th from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A service celebrating Doris’s life will be held on Saturday, September 17th at 2:00pm from St. John’s United Church, Sussex Corner, NB. The interment will take place immediately following the service with everyone returning to the church hall for a time of fellowship with the family.
