Obituary of Mary P. Jones
Jones, Mary Parmelia “Dolly” (nee Irving), 86, passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on March 12, 2014. Dolly was born in Harcourt, Kent County; she was a daughter of the late Allan and Mary Ann “Mollie” (nee Spencer) Irving. She married Lawrence Earl Jones and they lived happily for forty-six years until Lawrence passed away in 1999. They always enjoyed the outdoors and spent much of their summers and falls at their camp in Penobsquis. Dolly and Lawrence lived for over twenty years on Williams Street in Moncton. She was a hard worker, and worked at Eatons in the Mail Order Department for many years. Dolly enjoyed playing Bingo at the Air Force Club in Moncton where she was a lifetime member, and she and Lawrence loved to bowl and skate; she taught both of her granddaughters to skate when they were little. She was also a long-time member of the Lions Senior Citizen Club in Moncton. Dolly has one son, Allan Jones (June) of Waterford; her granddaughters: Kelly MacAdam Tomlinson (Steve) of Riverview, and Emily Jones (Dave) of Moncton; and her great-grandchildren: Cohen and Jake. She has one remaining brother, George Irving of Summerside, PEI. Besides her parents and husband, Dolly was predeceased by her brothers: Jack and Jim Irving, both formerly of Ontario, and Johnson, formerly of Albert County. She was also predeceased by her sister, Betty Lockerbie, formerly of Saint John. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133). A service celebrating Dolly’s life will be held in the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home chapel on Sunday March 16, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Neville Gosman presiding. Interment will be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations to the Kiwanis Nursing Home, or a charity of your preference, would be appreciated by the family.
