It is with sadness our family announces the passing of Joyce Eileen Otis, 75, of Parlee Brook, on October 12, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Parlee Brook, she was the loving wife of Clarence Otis and the daughter of the late Warren and Stella (nee Snider) Arnold. Joyce attended the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing from where she graduated in 1960. She worked at the Saint John General Hospital, Kings County Hospital, and the Kiwanis Nursing Home from where she retired in 2002. She was a member of St. John’s United Church, Sussex Corner, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was very involved with her family and friends but her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is survived by her husband Clarence Otis; daughter, Julie Otis of Parlee Brook; son, Paul (Tanis) Otis of Parlee Brook; grandchildren: Kimberley and Gregory Otis; brother, Gary (Margo) Arnold of Fredericton; sisters-in-law: Ethel Gailey, Marie Henderson, and Joan Otis; brothers-in-law: Elvin (Lorna), Murray (Marion) and Ernest (Sally) Otis; as well as many extended family and friends. Besides her parents Joyce was predeceased by her son David Otis; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, from where visitation will be held on October 14, 2014 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, at 2:00 pm at St. John’s United Church in Sussex Corner with Rev. Gene Fisher presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. John’s United Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
